Supporting United Nations Peace Day through Active Participation

 

Information Form

 

Entries to the all Peace Parade UK activities are invited from individuals, schools, community groups, organisations and companies.

 

Please complete the separate Participation Form and return either through your organisation or to the following address: Peace Parade UK, 3 Westfield Close, Rochdale, OL11 5XB

 

 

United Nations Peace Day Parade September 21st 11am to 12 noon

The parade will be the 3rd annual and only UN Peace Day Parade in the UK. Led by Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (the original movie car) and children from Rochdale and the surrounding boroughs, the parade will culminate in the UK’s only official and public observation of 2-minutes of silence at 12 noon.

You are kindly requested to participate in this event.

  • Form details: Please state your contact details, age group and number of parade participants and return the Participation Form by Sep 3rd. (Rochdale Schools deadline is Sep 10th through Rochdale School Service)

Confirmation of parade details will be sent to you in early September.

 

 

Peace Poem

Write a short poem on the theme of Peace in its widest definition – from the right of the child to peace in the playground, from the young person to peace on the streets, the senior citizen to peace in the community, from humanity to peace from organised aggression, from hatred to war.

Entries will be judged by a professional published poet and the winning entries read by a professional speaker at the Peace Parade UK event on September 21st.

  • Form details: Please state your contact details, age group and number of entries (1 entry per person) and submit your poem(s) with the Participation Form by Aug 1st.

 

Peace Cake – It’s a Peace of Cake!

Bake a cake with a theme of ‘This Peace is Delicious’

Cakes will be judged by a celebrity chef.  

Cake entries must be brought to Rochdale Town Hall on Sunday September 21st between 9-9:30am.

  • Form details: Please state your contact details, age group and number of entries (1 entry per person) and return the Participation Form by August 1st.

 

Kick a Ball for Peace – The Truce International Tim Parry Cup

A 5-a-side football tournament (knockout-stage) will be held at the Soccer Village on Wildhouse Lane on the following dates (mixed teams strongly encouraged):

Knockout stages

  • Adult Teams:        Saturday August 23rd 12-3pm (2 teams progress to Finals)
  • Youth Teams:      
      • Under 11s: Saturday September 20th 12-3pm (2 teams progress to Finals)
      • Under 14s: Saturday September 20th 12-3pm (2 teams progress to Finals)

The Finals of the tournament will be held on a 5-a-side Street Pitch on the Town Hall Esplanade

  • Adult Teams:        Sunday September 21st  Final at 1pm
  • Youth Teams:       Sunday September 21st
      • Under 14s Final at 2pm
      • Under 11s Final at 3pm

The final games of the tournament will be refereed by Premiership footballers.

Winning teams will be awarded the Truce International Tim Parry Cup by Nancy Dell’Olio.

  • Form details: Please state your contact details, team name(s), age group, number of teams, and return the Participation Form (with fee if required) by Aug 1st. Confirmation of your time allocation at the tournaments will be mailed to you.
